Claims Adjuster

The Claims Adjuster is responsible for investigating claims to ensure they are supported by sufficient evidence and evaluating the damages to determine appropriate compensation amounts in accordance with policy conditions.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Assist with the negotiation and settlement of claims in line with policy conditions;
    • Make informed and cost-effective decisions regarding the repair or replacement of damaged parts;
    • Negotiate discounts with suppliers/service providers, wherever applicable;
    • Visit location of loss/damaged items to investigate the circumstances of the claim and inspect damage;
    • Assist in ensuring that only valid claims are paid and help identify and pursue opportunities for subrogation recovery;
    • Authorise repairs by issuing Purchase orders/labour agreement forms to suppliers/service providers;
    • Prepare reports outlining loss assessment;
    • Discuss settlement with policyholders and Third parties and obtain signed agreement forms where applicable;
    • Assist with the search and recovery of stolen vehicles. Prepare investigation reports for same;
    • Discuss with insured or claimants about total loss settlement and obtain transfer of title when necessary to retain same;
    • Assist in maintaining an accurate log of retained salvage, while securing the best possible returns from sale of same;
    • Prepare reports and discuss settlements with insureds and third parties;
    • Assist Underwriting function by completing pre-insurance vehicle inspections;
    • Act as Claims Officer/Loss Adjuster for overseas territories as needed.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or equivalent;
  • Two-year post – secondary certificate e.g. in auto repair;
  • Experience in a similar role;
  • Excellent Analytical skills;
  • Good Interpersonal skills;
  • Proficiency in Math;
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English;
  • Proficient in computer skills.
