Finance Manager
  • Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will lead and be responsible for the accounting operations for the regional territories under their purview. Accounting operations includes but is not limited to monitoring financial operations, monitor financial performance, general ledger maintenance and review, management of accounts payable/receivable including payment and team leadership and development. The Finance manager is also expected to ensure statutory, regulatory and tax compliance.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitors day-to-day financial operations of the territories under purview.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Ensures completeness of account reconciliations with supporting documents.
  • Coordinates with other departments to ensure that we have proper understanding of our transactions.
  • Ensures an accurate and timely monthly and year end closing including pre-closing review.
  • Oversees all month-end and year-end accounting procedures including review of all reconciliations prepared the team.
  • Assists in preparing monthly, quarterly & yearly regulatory reports, board reports and financial statements.
  • Reviews underlying data of expenses to be paid to suppliers/taxes and authorizes payments and ensures timeliness and completeness herein.
  • Manages vendor and supplier relations, including but not limited to financial institutions.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of financial reporting systems to ensure integrity of finances based on sound accounting procedures and controls.
  • Optimizes processes and substantially enhances the efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of the reporting and accounting operations.
  • Monitors timely and accurate preparation of internal and external audit deliverables.
  • Develops and delivers accounting training to the business and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Complies with all necessary statutory, tax and regulatory requirements across the territories.
  • Provides support needed to the various Business Finance teams.
  • Develops and enhances accounting policies and adheres to accounting standards.
  • Builds strong relationships and fosters teamwork among territory wide departments and staff to achieve maximum performance.
  • Provides professional training to finance staff to improve working processes and quality.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the financial controllers, CFO and CEO.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • Qualification as a Financial Professional in accounting or finance, with relevant certifications with at least 3-5 years’ experience in a finance role including experience in P&C Insurance companies.
  • Prior experience in an accounting/ IFRS technical accounting/ external audit role is desired.
  • Experience in financial management and driving business performance through informed financial strategies.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex IFRS concepts and technical issues to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to urgent requests and manage changing priorities daily.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as team player, able to collaborate with other work streams and to help develop compliant and operationally practical solutions regarding technical matters.
  • Experience leading a team across multiple jurisdictions and sub-functions, particularly in a pressurized and deadline driven environment.
  • Strong influencing skills with the ability to reach consensus on technical matters with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Good developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and influence in a complex matrix environment.
  • Ability to manage a complex process within resource and time constraints.
  • Strong financial technical skills with a thorough understanding of accounting principles, reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Strong intellect with an organized and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Attention to detail while maintaining a broader, strategic view of financial operations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Zero appetite for non-compliance and missed reporting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and manage risks.
  • Self-motivated with the energy and ability to take initiative on relevant issues.
  • A well-balanced mix of maturity, discipline, and flexibility, with a strong ability to adapt to change and serve as a change agent within the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
