SUMMARY:
The key responsibility of the Medical Administrative Clerk is to provide clerical office administration and support services to the Medical Department by executing the duties, tasks, policies, and procedures assigned. Provides quality and professional service to claimants, customers, and business partners, intermediaries, and team members, while maintaining a high level of helpful and urgent customer service as well as participating in administrative processes and projects within the company, under the direction and guidance of the Medical Supervisor, and General Manager
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides Administrative Support to the Medical Department 2. Assists with the preparation of individual medical proposals and Policy contract documents for plans issued by St. Lucia for delivery to clients/agents/brokers. 3. Assists direct clients with new medical coverage including conducting interviews to determine the nature of medical coverage required. 4. Arranges appointments with healthcare professionals for Medical Assessment after a proposal has been accepted and approved. 5. Assists with the preparation of Individual Medical Insurance proposals. 6. Applies and issues cheques in the system, and sends cheques to clients, agents, brokers, and providers. 7. Submits cheque stubs to Head office. 8. Prepares pickup forms for cheque disbursement to brokers and agents. 9. Prepares cover notes for cheque disbursement to healthcare providers. 10. Prepares coverage letters requested by clients and brokers. 11. Prepares guarantee letters to healthcare professionals. 12. Assists with responding to customers’ queries. 13. Assists with maintaining the prompt updating of filing systems within the Medical Department. 14. Assists as directed by management, in other job-related functions/activities within the department and company that may arise from time to time or as assigned by superiors.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
Must show good planning and organizing skills; good communication skills; good interpersonal skills; good customer service orientation; good analytical and decision-making skills; results-focused orientation; keen attention to detail; excellent time management skills; and willingness to be an excellent team player with a positive work attitude. 2. Minimum five years of working experience in an Administrative Assistant function. 3. Experience in the Medical Insurance industry would be a plus. 4. Must pursue minimum insurance qualifications following 1 year of employment if not already acquired. (E.g. ALMI, HIA). 5. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and intermediate computer literacy including competent keyboard skills, good reading and writing skills with strong grammar and spelling. 6. Must be adept at adjusting to new developments in healthcare law, technology, and policies. 7. Must be flexible, creative, analytical, and organized in putting policy changes into practice. 8. Must show good planning, time management, and organizational skills, paying keen attention to detail and ability to focus for long periods. 9. Must exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with people at all professional levels, specialties, and roles. 10. Must exhibit trustworthiness and discretion when handling confidential information. 11. Must be an excellent team player with a positive work ethic and attitude. 12. Ability to work well and consistently achieve targets, without constant supervision. 13. Maintains and develops professional and technical knowledge through continuous educational development
