NAGICO Insurances Bahamas Ltd is a dynamic, financially strong, and innovative insurance provider, employing professionals in various functional areas throughout 15 Caribbean territories.
We are seeking knowledgeable and detail-oriented Underwriting Professionals to join our Underwriting Team. These roles are crucial for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the Territory’s Underwriting processes while aligning with the Company’s Underwriting philosophy, guidelines, and objectives. The department plays a pivotal role in the company’s success.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Intermediary Relationship Management
Render-friendly and efficient service to all intermediaries.
Assist with the resolution of queries by liaising with the respective department or management as necessary.
Promote NAGICO’s products and services to intermediaries through up-selling, cross-selling, and prospecting.
Offer informed coverage advice to intermediaries.
Underwriting and Policy Management
Execute the underwriting process, including risk assessment, selection, pricing, and follow-up services across all authorized classes of business.
Provide general insurance quotations, issue policy cover notes, certificates, contracts, and endorsements in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
Process insurance applications, renewals, cancellations, and related submissions, ensuring thorough review, system entry, and collection of all supporting documentation.
Assist with the timely preparation and distribution of renewal notices and retention efforts by contacting, monitoring, and reporting on lapsed and upcoming renewals.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
Monitor intermediaries’ compliance with company underwriting procedures through document review and audits, providing recommendations and taking corrective action as authorized.
Daily scanning of renewals, applications, cancellations, and related submissions with daily uploads.
Professional Development and Workflow Management
Effectively manage workflow, keep abreast of competitors and industry developments, and offer feedback/recommendations to management.
Keep professional/technical skills current through ongoing education, training, and attending workshops and seminars for self-development and exposure.
Additional Responsibilities
From time to time conduct site visits in collaboration with intermediaries to acquire business, assess loss exposures, and recommend risk management techniques.
From time to time, assist in the collection of accounts receivables as guided by the accounts department.
Execute/participate in projects, job-related tasks, and business initiatives as they arise and requested by Management.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of an Associate Degree in Business Administration and Minimum 3 years’ working experience in a similar position and/or customer service relations in the insurance industry or high school diploma plus 5 years’ working experience in a similar position and/or customer service relation in the insurance industry.
Qualification in General Insurance Underwriting
Knowledge of underwriting principles and insurance industry standards.
Maintains and develops professional and technical knowledge through continuous educational development with a concentration in General Insurance.
Knowledge of and experience in General Claims would be an asset.
Must have intermediate knowledge/skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
Must show good planning and organizing skills; good communication skills; good interpersonal skills; good customer service orientation; good analytical and decision-making skills; results-focused orientation; keen attention to detail; excellent time management skills; and willingness to be an excellent team player with a positive work attitude.
Must exhibit trustworthiness and discretion when handling confidential information.
Ability to work consistently to achieve targets, without constant supervision.
COMPENSATION
